The Brony Thank You Fund®

We've all seen the news items about school kids being harassed because of being Bronies, and most of us have had personal experience with how admitting to like the show can cause people to (at a minimum) give us funny looks, or at worst assume that we're perverts. Many people don't like it when bronies talk about "coming out of the closet", because it seems to trivialize the experience that gays have when they go public, but the reality is that showing your pony pride can generate the same kind of blind prejudice that people's sexual preference or race or religion can.

This Thursday, many pony fans sat down to enjoy a Thanksgiving Meal and maybe watch some hoofball, or even an episode or two.  But the Board of Directors of the Brony Thank You Fund would like to express their special thanks to the many volunteers and generous donors who have made the past 20 months so successful for us and the causes we support.

The Board of the Directors of the Brony Thank You Fund would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Havivy family, and to everyone who has shared Kiki's long and torturous journey.

Since we launched the fund, we've used Pixelkitties' awesome logo as our corporate brand. We love the logo, and it's become well-identified with the Fund and the work it does. But one thing the logo lacks is personality, and we've been coming to realize that we need a mascot to represent the fund in a more human equine manner. With that in mind, we asked AutobotGirl, the January artist in the Fund calendar, to create an OC that could put her best hoof forward for us.

A meeting of the board of directors was held via Skype on Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 at 9PM.  Attending were Sabrina Alberghetti, Monica Carlino and James Turner.

Prior notice having been given as per the bylaws, Mr. Turner moved to amend the bylaws as follows:

Article II, Section 1.  Amend by replacing the number 5 with 6, so that it shall read:

Admittedly, 501(c)(3) Celebration doesn't really roll off the tongue, but we're still pretty durn excited about finally getting our tax-exempt status! To create an appropriately celebratory mood, we consulted an expert on the subject, and Pinkie Pie responded "PARTIES! PRESENTS!"

Alas, we can't invite you all to a party, the Fund headquaters is a little small for that. But we can definitely get down with the idea of presents! We've reached into our big bag of goodies, and have a few major ones we'd like to share with our May donors.

Since the first day that the Brony Thank You Fund had a web page, we've had verbage under our donation button that read:

The Brony Thank You Fund, Incorporated has applied to the United States Internal Revenue Service for registration as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity.  If this application is granted, all donations to the Fund will become retroactively tax-deductible to the extent permissible by law.
